Had a bit of a shock today, took ten fpr a lap round the industrial estate, poped it in second and as it came on cam it stuck the backend out and when it straightend up it flew. One problem, the gti lump wasnt designed to have a header tank so when i rev the engine it takes water out the rad and fills the header tank. So tomorrow i will remove it and just run the rad without a header tank, i only put one on to give me an extra bit of coolant.

Took it for a drive on trade plates today, a couple of issues, theres an issue with the breather box gasket thats allowing oil to pour out of the breather, the radiator cap was the wrong one so now has a 7psi cap on it, going to try and get it matched up for a 14psi one. Also when you boot it in 3rd it misfires and then pops flames out, think its fuel starvation as the pumps above the tank. Tell you what tho it bloody flys

Finally sorted fueling issue and now its even quicker spins the wheels all the way threw 3rd, better get the 165s on it. Passenger seats in and handbrakes connected and just needs adjusting. List of jobs to make it road legal are, fit horn, fit washer pipes, adjust handbrake. Then jobs on the go are bigger brakes (gti calipers, mgf discs) fit rear belts to hold the kids in, temp gauge, lowering and mgf 15" wheels

almost ready, then she drops down a cylinder. Pressure tested no1 cylinder which only had 50psi compression and when I put air into the cyl it fired the dipstick across the workshop and poured oil out. Im hoping its headgasket across to oil return if not she will be getting a 1.5d bolted in and maybe turbo it until i can afford to rebuild gti lump
