Other than narrowing an axle to suit the car there are only a couple of options for axles.
If strength and width are important you can get a MGB axle to fit, steel wheel versions are 51.5" hub face to hub face compared to the standards 50". However, you can use a wire wheel mgb axle, remove the wire wheel drive flanges (or if you have a lathe you could machine the splines off) then fit a pair of steel wheels drive flanges and voila a 50" strong axle with a ratio of 3.909. The Uj flange is the same size but you will need to cut down the prop as diff nose is longer. The PCD will now be 4x114.3 but Triumph 2000/Marina 10cwt van 13" wheels are the right PCD if you want to keep a standard look to it or redrill hubs to standard PCD But you would have to do something with the brakes as 13" wheels won't fit over them
Whatever you choose to do remember that if the axle tubes are thicker and you keep the axle below the springs it will raise the rear of the car and if you flip it to on top of the springs it will end up lower than standard axle.
Any others?

i took a loose measurement the other day of my 8 and drum face to face mine measured 130cm.(51 3/16").
I have a dolomite sprint axle i was going to get narrowed to fit, loose measurement of this came in at 135cm (53 3/16")
An inch off either side is all i need to make it fit... grr

If you dont mind changing stud pattern im debating suzuki sj very strong for what they are theres 2 different widths Samurai rear=1326mm (52.2") sj 410/413 rear=1224mm (48.2") sj410 has 4.1:1 ratio sj413 has 3.9:1 and samurai has 3.69:1. You can put the sammy diff on the 413 case. you can also buy lsd and cam locker or air locker for the 413/sammy diffs, think you can gey cam locker for the 410 diff. Just so happens that i have a sj410 axle to hand with 2 wheels so when i blow 10s diff i will swap the axle

Does anyone know if the Toledo 1300 rear axle is the same width as the later Dollys?
I know the McNeils fitted one to their pickup without any body mods.
